How to Ace your Solar Feasibility Analysis – April 9, 2024

At this workshop we walk you through the solar feasibility analysis, which is required by HPD’s Solar Where Feasible mandate. The workshop starts with an overview of LL92/94 and HPD’s Solar Where Feasible Program, followed by explanations of the solar feasibility analysis and process. This training also provides tool tips, solar project guidance, and answers to questions that attendees submitted during the workshop.

We Love Solar – Affordable Solar 101 – February 14, 2024

At this workshop, we dive into the latest developments shaping the solar landscape for affordable housing projects in NYC. The workshop starts with a “Solar 101” introduction covering new incentives, followed by insights into the most recent “Solar Where Feasible” tool and process enhancements. This training also covers solar policy updates, from DEP’s Unified Stormwater Rule to LL92/94’s phase out of solar waivers. 

Solar 101 and the HPD Solar Where Feasible Program – May 17, 2022

This workshop is a primer on Solar for NYC multifamily affordable housing and an introduction to HPD’s Solar Where Feasible Program, the cost-effective solar mandate adopted by the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development. This training covers solar technology, costs, incentives, policy updates, case studies and HPD’s mandatory Solar Feasibility Analysis.

Solar for Designers: HPD Solar Where Feasible training – Oct 21, 2021

Solar for Designers is geared towards architects and other members of the design community interested in learning how to design and optimize solar for affordable housing in NYC. After a brief overview of solar basics and the relevant laws and codes, we will dive into how to design buildings that are optimized for solar – and create solar designs that make financial sense for building owners. We will share helpful tips and tools for estimating solar capacity, energy savings and cost, and will talk through the process of integrating solar into projects – including owner and agency buy-in, bidding and construction. We will also present some real-life case studies from across the city, and leave plenty of time for Q&A.

How to Ace the Solar Feasibility Analysis: Solar Where Feasible Training – Oct 7, 2021

This webinar will give tips and tricks for the new, simplified Solar Feasibility Analysis, and how to use it for a variety of situations: new construction, retrofits, portfolios, solar & green roofs, and more. Join us for an overview of the HPD Solar Feasibility Analysis process for both New Construction and Preservation projects, instructions for how to use the Solar Screening Tool, and tips for how to make the most of the materials provided, as well as time for Q&A.

Solar for Mid-Cycle Affordable Housing: Proven Solutions from NYC – September 23, 2021

Join the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and nonprofit Solar One for a lively 90 minute webinar highlighting proven strategies to bring cost-effective solar energy to mid-cycle affordable housing in New York City. The session includes a brief primer in solar for affordable housing followed by a panel where affordable housing providers and financiers present case studies and lessons-learned from their recent NYC mid-cycle affordable housing solar projects. Presenters/panelists include leaders from: New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), Fifth Avenue Committee (FAC), Joint Ownership Entity New York City (JOE NYC), Sunwealth, Sunrun, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and New York City Energy Efficiency Corporation (NYCEEC).
