Technical Assistance

Solar energy can reduce your affordable housing portfolio’s operating costs while limiting your exposure to volatile energy prices. The cost of solar technology has come down in recent years and with new forms of financing available, solar power is now more affordable than ever. While the process of adopting solar can be challenging, Here Comes Solar provides NYC affordable housing providers with free, comprehensive technical assistance to make solar easier. We’ve facilitated successful solar projects in partnership with  individual HDFC cooperatives as well as non-profit housing providers such as the Joint Ownership Entity of NYC (JOE NYC), Fifth Avenue Committee, Housing Works, Nazareth Housing, and Ascendant Neighborhood Development.

Are you interested in solar for your building or portfolio? Complete the form below or email us at HereComesSolar@solar1.org to schedule a time to speak with Solar One staff regarding your buildings’ solar potential.

HPD’s Solar Where Feasible Program

HPD’s Solar Where Feasible policy requires solar on affordable housing when it is cost-effective, ensuring that investment in clean energy helps create and preserve affordable housing by lowering building operating expenses, creating green jobs, and reducing harmful emissions. Funded by NYSERDA, Solar One helps to administer the Solar Where Feasible program and provides free technical assistance to any building with HPD funding.
