If roof space and shading is an issue, Community Solar makes it possible for New Yorkers like you to join shared solar projects on large roofs anywhere in the City. Solar electricity bill savings are now available to anyone who pays a Con Edison electric bill, even renters!

The first community solar installations were built in the spring of 2018 and there are more being developed all the time. Community Solar programs offer 12 month renewable subscriptions for solar energy credits to Residential (EL1) and Small Commercial (EL2) and Master Metered (EL8) Con Edison customers in NYC. The solar energy credits are being offered at a 10% discount, so for each $1.00 of utility bill savings you receive, you pay the solar company $0.90.
