Solar One Green Workforce

Course Offerings

Solar One offers customized program offerings to fit our partners needs and employer demand. We can provide trainings as short as one week or as long as six by choosing specific modules from our in-house curriculum. Our primary course offerings are divided into three primary categories:

  • Green Building Operations and Maintenance (HVAC, heat pumps, energy efficiency)
  • Basic Green Construction (carpentry, electrical and plumbing)
  • Solar PV Installation

Certification, Training and Testing

In addition to our proprietary material, we can combine the above courses with a variety of industry recognized certifications on local, state and federal levels to boost student knowledge and employability. The Green Workforce Program currently offers the following certifications:

  • GPRO Operations and Maintenance
  • GPRO Electrical
  • GPRO Mechanical
  • Building Performance Institute Multifamily Building Operator
  • Building Performance Institute Multifamily Building Analyst (testing only)
  • NABCEP PV Associate
  • US EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting (Lead)
  • EPA 608 
  • OSHA 30
  • “NYC Department of Buildings Site Safety Training (SST)
    • 8-hour Fall Prevention and 2-hour Drug & Alcohol Awareness 
    • This certification is offered in combination with a OSHA 30 course to make students compliant with minimum 40 hours of approved safety training required by NYC Local Law 196.

Workers in the Building and Solar Sectors

Solar One offers technical hands-on training and certification programs for existing workers in the building and solar PV sectors. We can develop a custom training program based on your needs in order to upskill employees with additional energy efficiency skill sets. Trainings can be delivered in-person at Solar One, virtually, or potentially on-site at your location. These courses and certifications can help your company reduce energy costs while also lowering your carbon outputs.

  • BPI Multifamily Building Analyst and Multifamily Building Operator certifications
  • NABCEP Solar PV Associate training
