Our street trees are our most prominent nonhuman neighbors and they work hard all year long to defend us from the impacts of climate change. But who takes care of them and how? The answer is YOU CAN, and we’ll show you how.
Join Stuy Cove Park and Citizen Pruner Rachel Tenney on June 11th at 9am and get hands-on experience tending to street trees. We’ll meet at Stuy Cove Park, dig up some native plants, and then walk to Avenue D and 8th street where we’ll care for the tree pits outside the Girls Club of the Lower East Side and Community Access, a supportive housing residence for folks living with mental health challenges. Come play in the tree pits, plant some native plants, and learn about our city’s citizen pruner program.
