Ellen Witzling Roff

Treasurer

Ellen Witzling Roff (Treasurer) is a founding Solar One board member, who has served as the Treasurer of since its inception. She brings the benefit of her many years of experience in nonprofit management, program oversight, finance, and administration of organizations in refugee resettlement and reproductive health. She has been a CFO of large international service agencies and a consultant to local providers starting up new services. Ellen is a Brooklyn girl who grew up in East New York, attended public schools, and graduated from Brooklyn College with a BA in English. She raised her children in Park Slope, where she organized two successive, parent-run, cooperative child care groups, one for each of her children, Jessica and Matthew. As her children grew, Ellen resumed her education while continuing to work. She earned her MBA in 1982, which prepared her to deepen her understanding of complex business operations, moving from Budget Officer of a $30MM international organization to Director of its Internal Audit function, and then to other organizations as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer. Now in retirement, Ellen does volunteer work for Solar One and other service organizations and spends as much time as she can with her grandson.
