Catherine Lahood
Career and Technical Instructor
Catherine Lahood joined Solar One in February of 2024 as a Career and Technical Instructor, teaching solar installation skills across NYC Public Schools. Catherine received a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Applied Mathematics from St. John’s University. At St. John’s, Catherine collaborated with several NGOs to design and implement several off-grid solar projects for a sustainable farm and school located in Lares and Vieques, Puerto Rico, that aimed to mitigate the devastating effects of Hurricane Maria and Fiona. These projects ignited her passion for utilizing small-scale photovoltaic projects that directly help communities disproportionately affected by climate change. She believes STEM education and renewable energy technologies are driving forces in achieving a more sustainable and equitable future. Outside work, she loves going to concerts, thrifting, painting and art, and hiking.
