CECP in New York City

Solar One is NYSERDA’s implementation partner for CEC in New York City and Long Island. In New York City, Solar One has three embedded staff at the NYC Mayor’s Office of Climate & Environmental Justice (MOC&EJ) and the Department of Citywide Administrative Services’ Division of Energy Management (DCAS DEM) to support emissions reduction initiatives by embedding full-time Clean Energy Communities Coordinators within the City to work on high impact efforts, including: expanded benchmarking and energy efficiency solutions for private buildings; developing and launching equitable electrification policies and programs; and working with NYC’s public agencies to implement plans for public sector emissions reduction.

Additionally, Solar One has a Community Campaigns Coordinator under the CECP program who works closely with neighborhood-based organizations, borough presidents, and community boards to launch and run clean energy campaigns.

CECP on Long Island

On Long Island, Solar One’s Partner, Cameron Engineering works with Long Island municipal leaders to secure commitments to complete High Impact Actions to reduce emissions, and will continue to team with its current Clean Energy Communities partners, the Sustainability Institute at Molloy College and the Community Development Corporation of Long Island (CDCLI) to achieve a broader reach, including in disadvantaged communities.

Local governments are critical partners in achieving a new energy vision for New York State. As such, municipal leaders play a critical role in affecting energy choices in their communities, both in terms of government operations, and also across homes, businesses, and community institutions.

Clean Energy Connections

In addition to providing support to MOC&EJ and DCAS DEM, Solar One hosts a Clean Energy Connections series which elevates the conversation regarding clean energy and further thought leadership and innovation in New York City.
