Local Power and Here Comes Solar<\/strong> are developing community solar on commercial rooftops across Red Hook, Brooklyn with an ownership and governance structure that maximizes benefits to local residents and businesses.  Benefits to low-and-moderate income residents are the heart of this plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Co-ops Go Solar <\/strong>is a collaboration between UHAB and Solar One that empowers low-income homeowners across New York City to access a sustainable and resilient future for their community-led affordable housing. We make renewable energy easy with education, advisement, and support for HDFCs thinking about solar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Power<\/strong> is an innovative 1.2-MW community solar project benefiting low- and moderate-income communities in New York City. Spread across three NYCHA campuses, the solar energy systems will generate enough solar energy credits to reduce energy bills for over 350 participating households. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

HPD’s Solar Where Feasible<\/strong> policy requires solar on affordable housing when it is cost-effective, ensuring that investment in clean energy helps create and preserve affordable housing by lowering building operating expenses, creating green jobs, and reducing harmful emissions. Funded by NYSERDA, Solar One helps to administer the Solar Where Feasible program and provides free technical assistance to any building with HPD funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
