Facts About the Bill S8145/ A11202, The New York City Solar Property Tax Abatement
- Under the NYC Solar Property Tax Abatement Law, solar (photovoltaic) system owners would be eligible to claim an abatement during a five-year period, 2008 – 2013.
- New solar system owners who participate during the first three years of the program would receive an abatement equal to 35% of their total system costs. Those who participate during the final two years of the program (2011-2013) would receive an abatement equal to 20% of their total system costs.
- The abatement would be distributed over a four-year period.
