Education Program Offerings

Innovative K-12 Education Programs!

  • K-12 Programs – Solar One offers innovative programming to K-12 students throughout all 5 boroughs of New York City.
  • Time and Location - Our enrichment programs are 1-1.5 hours long on-site here at the Solar One education center or at your school. Solar One offers anywhere from 1-3 sessions to schools – at school and on site at the education center. These sessions are adaptable in terms of location and time. Please specify preferences.
  • Cost - Solar One is a vendor for the NYC Department of Education. Please contact us to receive more information about our education programs.
  • Program Topics - We offer programs that discuss – Renewable Energy, Sustainable Design, Estuary Ecology and Environmental Art. (Education Brochure)
  • How to Sign Up - Please fill out an Pre-Visit Form to schedule a class. We cannot process inquiries without this application form first. More info below.

How to Schedule a Class:

Solar One is open for classes Monday- Friday from 10am – 5pm.

  1. To schedule a class fill out a quick Pre-Visit Form (PDF) that tells us about your school, which program you would like to be involved with and dates that are available for in-classroom and on-site sessions!
  2. Fill in your availability and program preference (energy, design, art or estuary ecology) and email it to us at: education[at]solar1.org.
  3. Please include your contact information and several dates and times for in-school and on-site sessions in all inquiries to our Education Team.

Our Mission

The mission of Solar One’s education program is to facilitate applied experiential Learning opportunities through science, design, art and entrepreneurship. Our programs explore relationships between the natural and built environment using the urban ecology of New York City as a focal point to investigate renewable energy, sustainable design, estuary ecology, and environmental art.
