Solar One Hosts “8 Solar Bits” Radio Show, featuring musicians playing Game Boys

Last night, Monday March 30th, Solar One hosted live radio performances by some of the world’s most accomplished “8 bit” musicians. This is an emerging form which is not merely inspired by the sounds of old video games, but literally composed with and performed on old computers and gaming systems that have been ingeniously hacked and re-enabled by new software. The instrument of choice last night: the Nintendo Game Boy, 90s version.

The show was hosted by Trent Wolbe on WFMU’s (91.1FM) ‘Sound and Safe’ weekly program. The show enjoys a global audience and last night received a record number of listener comments. Solar One thanks Trent and all the performers (shown below) for such a wonderful night! We hope to have them back at some point this summer.
